SUBANG JAYA: Pet dogs need not be implanted with microchips nor undergo training courses.
This was decided by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council on Wednesday.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng said the requirements were scrapped because the state government did not give its approval to the council’s dog licensing by-laws.
“Each municipal council has different regulations for dog licenses.
This is confusing,” Lee said, adding that he had suggested to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo that all local councils in Selangor adopt a uniform policy on dog ownership licenses.
The MKA was to conduct canine training courses, certify the dogs and implant the microchips.
“The MKA cannot use the MPSJ logo in its membership application form anymore.”
Lee said the council would fall back on the current regulations for dog license approval and renewal.
